Mini-Guide | Las Vegas

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

So a friend is headed to Vegas, for the first time. And as I sat down to jot a 'must list' of restaurants, shows & sights for her I gotta admit - I was super nostalgic. Most people thought we were crazy leaving Denver for Vegas, but we figured "What the hell, it's just another adventure!" And it turned out to be two of the best years - primo spot for great cuisine {we love to eat} & close proximity to California, Utah, Arizona {and we love to travel}. Every now and again we miss our time in Vegas - there's just something pretty serene & relaxing about the desert. And you don't often put Vegas + relaxing together, but trust me, get off the Strip for a bit and it is.

Here are some of my tops in Vegas:

Red Rock Just west of town. Simple elegance, and home of my favorite Spa in the City.

Rosemary's Restaurant Easily our favorite neighborhood restaurant in Vegas.

Wynn & Encore Just fabulous, and class.

Foundation Room At the top of Mandalay Bay. Go for cocktails & the best view of the City.

Bartollota One of our most memorable meals, ever.

Koi Sushi and sexy, sexy ambiance.

Roy's Hawaiian fusion, and I know it's a 'chain' but we don't have one here in New Orleans and we were regulars, so it made the list.

Town Square Las Vegas Great shopping at the southern end of the Strip.

Hiking at Red Rock Canyon

Le Reve Best Show in Vegas. Hands down.
