Coquette in New Orleans, LA

Monday, February 07, 2011

Yesterday started off with a quick little photo shoot for New Orleans Homes & Lifestyles Magazine for their upcoming spread on the Junior League of New Orleans' Kitchen Tour (much, much more on this event to come). Afterwards was a bit of volunteering followed up with a late lunch Uptown. All three made for a wonderful afternoon in New Orleans, but what I really want to chat about right now is the late lunch, at Coquette Bistro & Wine Bar.

When we lived in the City, we literally lived 6 blocks from this spot. Always had every intention of popping in at some point, but have you seen Magazine Street? You could eat out every single day for 365 days straight and still not eat it all. Needless to say, Coquette remained on the 'list' even after the move. So my good girlfriend {and volunteer sidekick} & I decided to give it go. Fabulous, shotgun space with lots of dark wood, mirrors & crystal chandeliers. I liked it- a lot. We moseyed up to the bar, grabbed two kir royales and the 3-course lunch special. Two hours later, I walked out with a belly full of champagne, roasted oysters, shrimp & grits, and beignets... wondering why I had not gotten in there sooner.

On your next stroll down Magazine Street, put Coquette on the list if only for a cocktail at the bar. Which speaking of the bar, I'd recommend eating there versus at a table. It's just more fitting.
