Dream Grand Tour Itinerary

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Several spots in Southern Asia have been on my must-visit list for some time now. If I had a month to explore, this is how it would go down:

My Grand Tour would start in Istanbul where we'd spend our first jet-lagged day soaking at historic hammam, Cagaloglu. We'd wake early the next day for some jewelry, antiques, & textile shopping at the Grand Bazaar, capped with a late afternoon feast overlooking the Bosphorous. Our next stop would be Bangkok where we'd take a cooking class before heading north to explore the elephant camps & tribes near Chiang Mai. Then it's down to Phuket for some longtail boating through the islands and culinary exploring on the cheap at the Night Markets. We'd then head to Cambodia to take in the history of Angkor & Phnom Phen, and not leave the country until we've properly restaurant hopped in Siem Reap. Our journey would end in Indonesia where we'd try our hand at Balinese dance and then plant our rears on the funky, sandy beach of Kuta.

This itinerary has been entered into LUXE Guides & Grantourismo's Grand Tour Competition... though I may have exceeded the 100 word max, little too excited.
*UPDATE, my little Asian itinerary took 3rd Place in LUXE Guides & Grantourismo's Grand Tour Competition - pretty neat. Now I just need to rally a few girlfriends, and Go!
