an Oyster Buckle

Friday, July 22, 2011

I'm completely captured by Southern clothing labels these days. In particular, that casual waspy-meets-hippie aesthetic that seems to be eminating from the South of late in the form of music, design, and clothing. My latest intrigue: Ann & Sid Mashburn, introduced to me in the lastest issue of Garden & Gun (Aug/Sept 2011). Sid is one of GQ's most fashionable American Men and owner of Sid Mashburn, a men's shop in Atlanta. His wife Ann is the owner of Ann Mashburn - the feminine counterpoint to Sid's shop. Click here to poke around their website to see what I'm talking about. Huckleberry Gal has a great little spread on the couple too.

One of my favorite pieces from Sid's collection is this Oyster Shell Belt Buckle, in his men's shop. But I'm thinking it was really made to be around a woman's waist, paired with a long black linen dress.
