It's something I've been giving a lot of thought to. Leaping. Leaping into the unexpected. Leaping into different subject matter with my writing. I'll always love to write about and share my stories of incredible eating and life-altering travel. I don't see that changing. But I also recognize that it's been easy for me to write about universally loved subjects like incredible food and travel. Those words come easy to me, and truth be told it's comfortable. It's comfortable because the chance that someone will openly dispute my words is unlikely.

But I don't believe in sitting comfortable for too long.

The more difficult and uncomfortable thing for me to do would be to put my personal opinion, that may or may not be universally accepted, out there. Someone somewhere will surely disagree, and vocally disagree. And challenge my view. And make me second guess myself. It's a new ballgame. I've got to be on my toes and ready to defend my stance. It's not butterflies and ease. But I once had someone years ago tell me, "Lila, if you're not making mistakes, you're not stretching yourself."

And probably not learning much either.

I'm speaking about writing here, but you can take the idea into any facet of your life. Leap into something new and challenging. Leap into something that you've always wanted to do. Leap into something that gets your brain churning and heart rate going. Leap into something that inspires people and causes people to stop, think, reconsider.

So, here's to Leaping.
