on Personal Style

Monday, February 20, 2012

I recently read somewhere that personal style is the outward expression of your personality, the way you decorate your home, the foods you eat. And I thought to myself, yes!, but it's also so much more. True personal style is a reflection of all the places you've seen, pulling bits & pieces from here and there. It's the ability to know and accept your body, playing to your best parts. It's the way you carry yourself, and the way you live your life. It's not fretting over what others are doing, wearing or buying. True personal style isn't found in the masses. Think about it. Think about a woman who stands out in a crowd. She doesn't stand out because she's following the pack. She stands out because she's doing her own thing. Be confident, and don't hold back. Raise eye-brows, get people talking. Don't worry about look-overs from other women. That's flattery. Take it as a compliment. Draw inspiration as you need, but stick to your own thing because you never know who you're inspiring to do the same.
