Writing + Redesigning

Friday, April 20, 2012

I'm in the thick of my book manuscript, which has been insanely rewarding, challenging, fulfilling, humbling. Several of you have been asking about it, about the process, and I can't wait to share more once I'm through some of these initial big steps. Creating the book has been really inspiring & provoking on many levels for me. One of which has to do with this site, and the ability to take The Constant Tourist in even more directions.

So, I've got a redesign of this site coming. Too. Stay tuned, I think you'll be happy.

    1. lana, i always tell people i'm 'creating' a book because truthfully it's way more heavy on photographs than text. the photographers will be the shining stars - not me - at least i hope it will be that way! i'm working with a Publisher in my hometown of Lafayette to create a travel book through the North Shore - where you've got to eat, what you've got to see, where you need to go. it'll be out in a few bookstores & boutiques this summer!

unrelated, but it's the first thing i think of when i see your name pop up- how's Fashion Week Sp/Su 2013 coming along?

    1. i'm goin' girl! i got honest with myself and i'm not doing a super job aiming my content to my target audience. so. i'm going to switch things up a bit, still travel & lifestyle but catered much more to the South Louisiana woman (Lafayette, New Orleans, North Shore).

      thanks for the 'hoorah', Christy!

  3. HOW cool!! I just found you through Ana's blog. Thanks for your input with the webinars! I'm pretty new to blogging and am working on a website and final blog design as well. That's so inspiring that you're publishing a book! Going to check that out now :) By the way, your photos below this post are beautiful. Love the simplicity.

  4. hi Danie, thank you for the kind words. I'll pass the message along to my husband that you find his photographs beautiful. Most are his, some are mine, I'm trying to get better with the camera. I too love Ana's blog, it's become a daily read, very honest and real which is quite refreshing.
Let me know what you think about the webinars if you end up taking a class. I've really enjoyed the ones I've attended - there's a chat function that goes on during the presentation that turns me off (bc it is a lot of 'scratch my back, i'll scratch yours') but you don't have to participate in it, you can just listen & absorb.

    1. Thank you Giselle, pedal on! I wanted something timeless, and something that mimicked a piece of stationery, like I'm telling my stories on a piece of stationery, without it being too cliche. We're not entirely finished with the design yet - look for more pictures & links on the sidebar in the next few days!
