At Home | Natural Masculinity in the Kitchen

Friday, August 17, 2012

We've been having some good summer thunderstorms lately. So last weekend, after a pretty rough storm, I found a big spiny tree branch in the backyard. The shape of it was beautiful. Seeing it reminded me of pictures I keep seeing in home decor magazines of dark brown branches in vases against white walls.

I had the perfect white wall in mind too - the big blank space in our kitchen at the end of the peninsula. The branches fill the space perfectly, and add some natural masculinity to the otherwise soft white kitchen. And it didn't cost a dime.

We still have a bit of decorating to do now that the renovation is done. But that vase of branches is helping me to pull everything together... keeping the entire space natural and minimal. How do you decorate in your kitchen?
