Over on Taigan | Fall Fashion for the Home

Thursday, August 30, 2012

On Monday, Chad & I packed up the car and headed west to Houston to escape Hurricane Isaac. We were on the fence trying to decide whether we should leave or not, but in the end we took the opportunity for a road trip. Some of our neighbors stayed behind so we've been getting updates from time to time. So far our house has fared pretty well - no trees through the roof, just lots of debris in the yard. The river across the street inched up to our drive. We've been glued to the news / Twitter / Facebook, and I think a lot of people underestimated the power of this one - lots of folks are flooded and without power. It goes without saying that my thoughts are with everyone back on the Gulf Coast, including my mom who decided to ride this one out at her home 2 blocks from the beach in Gulfport... still mad at her for that, but you can't tell that Cajun to do anything she doesn't want to do.

Not to take away from what's going on back home, however we are enjoying our time here in Houston visiting family. If you've got to evacuate, you may as well make the most of it! The next couple of days we'll be downtown trying some new restaurants. If we come across a great spot, I'll be sure to share here with you!

So yesterday during my early morning run, I couldn't help but notice that fall is right around the corner. The landscape around me got me way inspired for my next Taigan Finds article - bringing the outside autumnal elements in. Check it out here.
