Hotel Icon | Houston, Texas

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Houston is one of my favorite cities in this country, it's a plus that it's a quick drive over from New Orleans. It's a business hub no doubt, and I think most folks do tend to think business trip over leisure trip when the word 'Houston' comes up in conversation. I see it differently. I see Houston leisurely, because it's been that way for me. With Chad being from Houston, and having family in the area, I go to have fun and explore. The city is full of diverse people, restaurants, shopping. The antique and fabric shops are insane, and the restaurant scene is blossoming. A crop of stylish boutique hotels are emerging as well. I had the pleasure to stay in one of Houston's most chic boutique hotels - Hotel Icon - in downtown Houston. It's the type of hotel that I look for when planning travel - relatively small with that balance of local culture, history and modern design. The old Union National Bank Building has been transformed to include cowhide bar stools, gilded photos of longhorns, and claw foot tubs while still retaining original architectural details. The bites and cocktails from Line & Lariat are quite nice as well. Beyond the scale on the accommodation richter.

Thank you Stuart at Studio Communications for arranging my visit. For more information about Hotel Icon, or to reserve a room for your next trip to Houston, contact me at (504) 717 6144 or
